Let's join the great trend of self-reliance spreading all over the world
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Japan Committee, which supports the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, issues an appeal of solidarity.
East Asia, including Korea, is currently experiencing an unprecedented level of tension. The United States has created a cruel and cruel war situation all over the world, and Japan, South Korea, and even NATO are following suit. In particular, Japan, without reflecting on or apologizing for its past wars of aggression and colonial rule, has continued to hate Koreans in Japan by arrogantly viewing Korea as an imaginary enemy, and continuing hate crimes against Koreans in Japan. This attitude has been severely criticized.
After World War II, the world made great strides and changes from the tyranny of imperialism through wars of national liberation. However, Korea is still the only country where the nation is still divided, and with the ceasefire, tensions that could lead to war at any moment continue, and peaceful reunification has not been achieved. It is also Japan's responsibility to end this tragic division that the Korean people are being forced into as soon as possible.
This year, 2023, marks the 100th anniversary of the Great Kanto Earthquake. During that disaster, many Koreans were massacred by the military, police, and vigilante groups made up of ordinary citizens. However, the Japanese government continues to ignore this horrific genocide, and the reality remains shrouded in darkness. In the ensuing war of aggression, forcibly kidnapping millions of Koreans, the barbaric act that was the first victim.
This year, in cooperation with many Japanese democratic organizations, labor unions, citizens, and lawmakers, we formed the ``Executive Committee for Commemoration and Accountability for Korean Massacre Victims,'' and have taken various actions. . Despite the fact that much of Japan's history and culture came from Korea, today's Japan continues to stir up the "Korean Peninsula Crisis" and has become a military superpower without making any diplomatic efforts to achieve peace as it should. is pushing forward. The responsibility for unilaterally trampling on that historic Japan-North Korea Pyongyang Declaration should be held accountable.
Today, the world is openly dissenting from the US's authoritarian military rule of the world, and we are entering a new era based on the idea of self-reliance, in which the people are the main protagonists of society. Against the Liberal Democratic Party government's policy of "building a country capable of war," we will work in solidarity and cooperation with people from all walks of life and democratic organizations in Japan who aspire to justice, human rights, and peace. Let us walk with the great flow of independence. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and to realize the independent and peaceful unification of Korea as soon as possible!
